The history of Trebnik Mansion dates back to the 13th century, to be more precise to 1308, when it was mentioned for the first time in the history sources as “Trebnikke”, while as a mansion under the castle Konjiški grad it was mentioned in 1362. The mansion got its final – today’s image in the 16th century.
Everything that happened in the past had a great effect on the mansion itself and on its proprietors. The most characterized and important proprietors were the Windischgräetz family, who owned the mansion from 1828 and up to the end of the Second World War. They lived in it only temporarily, for them it was more like a summer residence. They paid a lot of attention to its surroundings, particularly to gardens. They had well organised gardening and their own gardener. This is where a certain passion for flowers comes from, which has spread around Slovenske Konjice and still lingers there.
After WW II the mansion became the property of the Municipality of Slovenske Konjice, which used the mansion's premises for various activities such as cinema, coffee house, kindergarten etc. This is what probably had the greatest effect on the mansion's poor conditions in 1997 – the mansion was abandoned. From then on, a new period for Trebnik Mansion began. Renovations of business premises took place. People employed at the mansion produced first natural products in 1999 and paved the way for them, which even today follows the brand name Dvorec Trebnik – natural products with which people not only take care of their own health and their own well-being but also spoil others by using them.
Soon first visitors were coming, for whom we organized entertainment programmes. All entertainment programmes include a bit of education so our visitors are amused during the guided tour and they visit the mansion with its interesting spots (herb garden, Herb Gallery, castle park, exhibition collections and a short movie about Trebnik Mansion) and they are meanwhile taught about medicinal plants and how they can treat themselves either in case of medicinal problems or just to improve their well-being.
